Description
Position Summary
The Controller will lead the company’s financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective financial controls. This role is key to supporting the company’s continued growth, operational excellence, and long-term strategic goals. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, hands-on finance professional with construction or project-based accounting experience. They thrive in fast-paced environments and are proactive about identifying process improvements, managing risk, and supporting leadership with actionable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead and manage all accounting operations including general ledger, job costing, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
+ Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
+ Oversee revenue recognition and contract accounting (percentage of completion, WIP schedules)
+ Maintain and improve internal control systems to ensure compliance and minimize financial risk
+ Collaborate with operations and project teams to provide accurate cost tracking, budgeting, and forecasting
+ Supervise and develop accounting staff to ensure high performance and professional growth
+ Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial consultants
+ Support strategic financial initiatives including cash flow planning, capital expenditure reviews, and corporate insurance
+ Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
+ Drive process improvement and system enhancements, including ERP and accounting software optimization
Requirements
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
+ 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with 3+ years in a Controller or senior accounting role
+ Experience in construction, civil engineering, or related industries strongly preferred
+ Deep knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and construction accounting principles
+ Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., Viewpoint Vista, Sage, or similar)
+ Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
+ Ability to work effectively with project managers, field teams, and executive leadership
+ Exceptional organizational and time management skills
