Description
We are looking for a skilled Lead Payroll Specialist to oversee payroll operations for both exempt and non-exempt employees in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This Contract position is remote, and requires expertise in multi-state payroll processing and compliance with internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a collaborative approach to resolving payroll-related issues.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll accurately and on time for exempt and non-exempt employees using automated payroll and timekeeping systems.
• Manage and reconcile payroll data batches, ensuring precision in calculations and timely completion.
• Audit and review payroll reports to verify the accuracy of paychecks, tax filings, and compliance with applicable tax rates.
• Handle complex payroll tasks, including wage garnishments, bonuses, stock options, restricted stock, car allowances, relocations, expatriate programs, and gross-up payments.
• Ensure the timely distribution of year-end W-2 forms and compliance with all payroll-related deadlines.
• Collaborate with HR to address and resolve employee payroll inquiries and concerns.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation and addressing audit findings.
• Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 internal controls related to payroll operations.
• Resolve payroll tax issues and liaise with tax authorities to ensure compliance.
• Generate payroll management reports and provide insights to leadership as needed.
Requirements • Minimum of 5 years' experience in payroll management, including multi-state payroll processing.
• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or similar automated payroll systems.
• Certified Payroll designation (CPP) is strongly preferred.
• Experience managing payroll for over 500 employees.
• Knowledge of Canadian payroll processes is a plus.
• Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with HR teams and resolve employee concerns.
