Description We are looking for an experienced Public Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Saint Louis, Missouri. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing financial processes, ensuring accuracy in accounting records, and supporting month-end close activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization within the non-profit sector.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee month-end close procedures, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing and posting journal entries.
• Perform account reconciliations to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor banking activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support financial reporting and compliance.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
• Ensure adherence to accounting standards and organizational policies.
• Provide support in audits and assist with documentation requests.
• Train and mentor entry-level staff members to enhance their accounting capabilities. Requirements • Proven experience in month-end close processes within a detail-oriented accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger maintenance and journal entry preparation.
• Expertise in account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations.
• Familiarity with accounting principles and standards.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
