    Position Title: Staten Island Railway Engineering, Emerging Talent Intern

    Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate)

    Overview of Department:

    Staten Island Railway Engineering provides Engineering Services for Operations, Capital Projects and Third-Party Work. These services include Design and Specification Review, Surveys, Verifying Contractor Submittals, Planning, and Oversight.

    Responsibilities:

    + Station Rehabilitation/ADA Improvements

    + Track Replacement

    + Switch Replacement

    + Procurement of New Heavy Equipment used for Construction and Maintenance

    + Radio [Walkie Talkie] Upgrade, moving into a monopole backbone system

    + Third Party Support: includes Con Ed, NYCDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDEP, NYCEDC, etc.

    + Bridge inspections/Structural Integrity

    + Structural Painting/Overcoating

    Projects:

    + T-80289, Track & Switch Phase II

    + S-80501 – SIR Radio Upgrade

    + C-80285 – Stapleton Viaduct Rehabilitation [included in the MTA GEC Bundle for Staten Island Railway]

    Required Qualifications:

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.

    + The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.

    + The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

    Required Education:

    + Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA

    + Major(s) Preferred: Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Related Field
