Job Description
Assistant Equipment Manager
Responsible for the daily management of all equipment activity for several designated sports (non-football) in the Department of Athletics. This position will work primarily with the Men's Ice Hockey program. These responsibilities include the management of the resource allocation provided by the department’s equipment and apparel provider (New Balance), inventory maintenance and management. This position also manages the logistics surrounding receiving shipments of product and distributing equipment to teams (including visiting teams) and administrative department. Additionally, the assistant equipment manager assists in the operations of the department’s van fleet.
This position must be able to sharpen skates and have prior experience working with equipment for, preferably, a professional or college hockey team.
Salary is commensurate with experience
Requirements
-Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in equipment operations
-Demonstrated experience in effective laundry practices and inventory management
-Bachelor’s degree required
-Must be able to sharpen skates and have prior experience working with ice hockey teams
-Prior experience in Professional or Division I equipment operations setting preferred.
-Experience with inventory management
-Knowledge of effective laundry practices
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated equipment operations background to include inventory maintenance and management
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work with equipment suppliers, coaches, staff and student-athlete clients regarding apparel and equipment issues
-Frequent night and weekend work and travel required. Ability to work flexible hours.
