Job Description
Fitness Coordinator
Campus Recreation cultivates life-long health and active lifestyle experiences. We honor the Jesuit Catholic commitment to the formation of the whole person through diverse programming in a safe, fun environment. Campus Recreation serves over 15,000 members on an annual basis, with an excess of 600,000 visitors. On a daily basis, more than 4,500 members utilize the Margot Connell Recreation Center, Newton Quonset Hut, and outdoor recreation fields and courts.
The Coordinator, Fitness & Wellness oversees a staff of approximately 100+ part-time employees (students and non-students). These positions consist of program assistants, group fitness instructors and fitness attendants.
Hires, trains, and evaluates 40+ student group fitness instructors and 5+ non-student group fitness instructors and 70+ fitness attendants and 1 program assistants.
Completes the payroll of over 140 Fitness hourly staff, including group fitness instructors, personal trainers, fitness attendants, and program assistants.
Maintains spreadsheets including, but not limited to staff certifications, and staff contact lists.
Manages staff records, including staffing budget, contacts, contracts, equipment maintenance and certifications.
This position works in conjunction with the Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness to develop a schedule for 90+ group fitness classes per week. These classes include but are not limited to Les Mills, Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, Spin, HIIT, Total Body Circuits, Step, Zumba, Fitlates, Barre, and Bootcamp.
They assist the Assistant Director for Fitness and Wellness in teaching the ACE prep class for new group fitness instructors and personal trainers.
This position provides opportunities for group fitness instructors to obtain new fitness certification and continuing education.
Salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements
Requirements
Bachelor's degree.
Degree preferred in Exercise Science, or other health-related fields.
One of the following certifications: ACE, ACSM or AFAA group fitness certification.
Minimum 2-3 years teaching group fitness classes.
Minimum of 1-2 years overseeing group fitness staff.
Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certifications, may be obtained within three months of employment.
Experience with Recreation Software’s, such as Myzone, Fusion, DSE, and Kronos.
Preferred
Experience working in a campus recreation environment.
Masters preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
200 hour yoga certification.
Experience teaching Spin and Les Mills classes.
Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certification preferred, may obtain within the first six months of employment.
