Work Location : Grayslake
PURPOSE:This purpose of this position is to provide door-to-door transportation of Little City participants. Additional responsibilities include safe operation of agency vehicles, following protocols for routine vehicle checks and care, reporting any participant safety, mechanical or operational problems, and completing any required documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The list of essential duties and responsibilities, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the task to be performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein is such duties are a logical assignment to the position.
1. Transport participants by picking up, transporting and dropping off at their scheduled location.2. Assist participants with getting in and out of the vehicle as needed.3. Act in a professional manner, observe the rights of persons served and maintain confidentiality.4. Maintain transportation logs and records according to established policies and procedures.5. Operates vehicle safely including observing speed limits, local traffic regulations, and Little City policies and procedures.6. Conduct pre-trip/post-trip visual inspections of vehicle, equipment, and supplies (e.g. tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, safety equipment).7. Report any participant safety, mechanical or operational problems immediately to the supervisor.
8. Keep interior and exterior of vehicles clean.9. Take vehicles for safety vehicle inspections, maintenance repairs, refueling as needed or if requested.10. Maintain a good driving record.11. Serve as a positive role model for individuals served.12. Attend staff meetings when required.15. Any other reasonable duties as assigned.13. Maintain American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR.14. Successfully complete Little City required training, re-training, and any additional training as required by Little City Foundation policies and practices, or as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING:
This position is part of the collective bargaining unit. Management has the right to schedule work hours and determine the work to be performed. Supervisors must have the flexibility to adjust to changes in scheduling, (including hours, the total number of work hours and work assignments) brought on by program needs.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school graduate or GED certificate, preferred. Valid Illinois driver’s license required. A minimum of one-year experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities desired. Must meet the insurance requirements per Little City policy in order to be placed on the Approved Driver list. Must have a driving record in good standing according to State Illinois Secretary of State office MVR.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to sitting for prolonged periods; frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions, occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches or bends. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is subject to assist and support up to 30 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a reoccurring basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate vehicle equipment. Must have ability to maneuver an occupied wheelchair into a tie down position. Must have the ability to perform CPR. Must have the ability to maneuver an occupied wheelchair into a tie down position. Generally, no occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases or other potentially infectious substances, but may require performing unplanned Category III tasks (Category II). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
