• School Nutrition Cook Manager 2025/26

    East Irondequoit Central School District (Irondequoit, NY)


    There is an opening for a Cook Manager in the School Nutrition Department at Helemdale Road Primary School. This position is 7 hours per day, working from 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM Monday - Friday. Cook Managers report the last week of August.

    Responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:

    + Responsible for proper receiving and storage of food and supplies.

    + Works with the Food Service Director to prepare weekly food orders for their specific School.

    + Prepare/transfer foods and other items

    + Set up prep area/serving line/cash register for menu items and ease of service; stock shelves/freezers/coolers/service areas.

    + Serve/prepare foods properly or operate cash register efficiently and courteously.

    + Maintain clean and orderly workstation; count/store/return leftover foods.

    + Assist with cleanup of equipment, dishes, pots/pans and work areas.

    + Complete paperwork, recordkeeping or inventory tasks as required.

    + Assist food service director and other staff as requested.

    + Attend management meetings; participate in professional development.

    Job Qualifications

    + Monroe County Department of Health L2 Certification Required; Serve Safe Certification or Monroe County Department of Health L1 Certification Preferred.

    + MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER: (A) (B) (C) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in Food Service Administration, plus one (1) year of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the preparation and cooking of a complete menu of foodstuffs for consumption on a large scale for a restaurant, hotel or institution, other than short order or fast food; OR, Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, plus three (3) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the preparation and cooking of a complete menu of foodstuffs for consumption on a large scale for a restaurant, hotel or institution, other than short order or fast food, OR, An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
