    Job Title: Construction Estimator

     

    Job Summary: System One is partnering with our client and seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator with expertise in federal contracting to join their dynamic team. This role is integral to the success of our construction projects, requiring a deep understanding of federal regulations, compliance requirements, and government procurement processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction methodologies and materials, as well as a commitment to delivering accurate and comprehensive cost estimates.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Thoroughly review project plans, specifications, and requirements to establish the scope of work and create precise cost estimates.

    + Analyze federal bid proposals, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and other contract documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.

    + Ensure all estimates align with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and other applicable government regulations.

    + Develop detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs, providing a comprehensive view of project expenses.

    + Conduct site visits as needed to evaluate project conditions and gather essential data.

    + Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and federal clients to clarify project requirements and address any concerns.

    + Prepare and submit detailed cost estimate proposals and documentation for various government projects.

    + Maintain up-to-date cost databases for materials, labor, and equipment pricing specific to federal contracts.

    + Identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring adherence to federal guidelines and standards.

    + Stay informed about industry trends, federal procurement processes, and advancements in construction methods and materials to ensure competitiveness.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

    + Proven experience as a Construction Estimator for federal projects or within the federal contracting sector.

    + In-depth knowledge of FAR and other federal regulations related to construction projects.

    + Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., RSMeans, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar tools).

    + Strong understanding of government bidding processes and contract requirements.

    + Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively.

    + Capacity to work independently while managing multiple projects with strict deadlines.

    + Experience in preparing cost estimates for various project delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build.

    + Familiarity with small business set-aside programs or compliance requirements for disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs) is preferred.
