Compounding Pharmacy TechnicianPosition Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic pharmaceutical team. This role involves performing hazardous sterile and non-hazardous compounding tasks, with a focus on testosterone formulations prepared using a seed oil base. You’ll play a key role in maintaining a clean, compliant environment aligned with USP <797> and <800> standards, as well as supporting documentation and inventory operations.
Key Responsibilities
+ Execute sterile and non-sterile compounding with strict adherence to safety protocols
+ Prepare testosterone-based formulations using seed oil as a delivery medium
+ Maintain a clean and organized compounding space, ensuring routine disinfection per USP <797>/<800>
+ Document compounding processes including batch records, cleaning logs, and quality control checks
+ Contribute to quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) programs
+ Assist with inventory management: receiving, labeling, and stocking materials
Required Skills & Certifications
+ Proven experience in pharmacy compounding
+ Familiarity and compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards
+ PTCB certification (required)
+ Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Tennessee
+ Experience with both sterile and nonsterile compounding processes
Preferred Qualifications
+ Minimum of 2 years of compounding experience (5+ years preferred)
+ Background in hospital pharmacy (preferred but not mandatory)
+ Interest in or aptitude for leadership roles
+ Experience compounding multiple drug types
Work Environment
+ Fast-paced, collaborative setting
+ Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM (will vary slightly each day)
+ Team: 6 pharmacists within a 30-person staff
+ Location: 5,000 sq ft facility undergoing a 4,000 sq ft expansion
+ Equipment: 6 cleanroom hoods currently, with 8 additional hoods being installed
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
