    Job Summary

    Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of First-Year Admissions, this position reads, reviews, and renders decisions about undergraduate admissions to the University. Readers evaluate information presented by prospective students in support of their applications for admission and determine suitability for acceptance. The position may also be asked to recruit prospective students in a specific territory by giving presentations, attending college fairs, visiting high schools, and communicating with students and families.

    Essential Functions

    + Reviews applications for admissions to the freshman class.

    + Evaluates and renders decisions (admit, waitlist, or deny).

    + Reviews specialized admissions categories, with unique criterion, special circumstances, and the like.

    + Understands and contributes to implementation of Enrollment Management and First Year Admissions goals for achieving non-discrimination and creating a multi-cultural environment.

     

    Other Functions

     

    + May recruit prospective students at college fairs, high school visits and panels.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

     

    + Bachelor’s degree.

    + Ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively.

    + Sensitivity to multicultural and socioeconomic issues.

    + Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

    + An understanding of and commitment to the undergraduate experience at a major research university.

    + Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

    + Access to reliable transportation to attend local events.

     

    Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

     

    + Prior experience as an admissions counselor/recruiter.

    + Prior experience with SLATE.

     

    Physical Demands/Working Conditions

     

    Typical office environment.

     

    Additional Details

     

    + This is a temporary, non-benefited position.

    + This position will be performed remotely.

     

    Work Schedule

     

    + Up to 30 hours per week.

    + Must be available and willing to work a varied schedule, including evening/weekend work.

    + Expected to work October through February, or when application review has been completed (whichever comes first).

     

    Salary Information

     

    $20.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending upon qualifications.
