    Job Title: SUE TechnicianJob Description

     

    As a SUE Technician, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of ASCE 38-02 standards and Quality Levels, applying them effectively in your work. You will proficiently conduct underground utility flagging using ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic equipment, and other geophysical methods. Your responsibilities include designating all types of utility lines, whether conductive or non-conductive, including water, sewer, gas, electric, fiber optic, PVC, and other underground facilities impacting site excavation. You will mark utilities with flags or paint and produce sketches for future reference. Additionally, you will operate vacuum excavation trucks and related equipment, or perform hand digging to verify utility characteristics. Maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and work sites will also be part of your duties.

    Responsibilities

    + Understand and apply ASCE 38-02 standards and Quality Levels.

    + Conduct underground utility flagging using geophysical equipment.

    + Designate various types of utility lines impacting excavation.

    + Mark utilities with flags or paint and produce sketches for future reference.

    + Operate vacuum excavation trucks and perform hand digging to verify utility characteristics.

    + Maintain vehicles, equipment, and work sites.

    + Research utilities present at a site prior to entry.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in survey and CAD applications.

    + Experience with subsurface utility engineering and utility locating.

    + Ability to use ground-penetrating radar and vacuum excavation equipment.

    + Skill in blueprint interpretation and understanding underground utilities.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High School diploma or specialized vocational/technical training.

    + Experience with electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies is advantageous.

    + Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.

    + Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

    + Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time if needed.

    + Capability to lift and carry equipment as required.

    Work Environment

    You will work within a dynamic team consisting of 3 crews on the SUE side and 4 survey crews. The position involves fieldwork, with hours from 7:30 am onwards. The company has been in business since 1901, offering a full-time career position with opportunities for advancement.     Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $65000.00/yr.
