Job Title: Electrical Engineering Tech II, Power System
Job Description
The Engineering Technician II, Power System, is tasked with designing electric and communication system facilities to cater to customer needs. This role involves the design of infrastructure for new customers and the maintenance and improvement of existing systems.
Responsibilities
+ Interface with customers via site visits, phone, and email.
+ Collect customer or representative data to estimate electric usage and revenue, assess fault current for equipment, and determine electric account deposits.
+ Create sales orders, obtain customer approvals, and track cost and revenue estimates following service policies.
+ Initiate work orders by performing cost estimates and creating job sketches using the Work Management System and Graphical Facilities System.
+ Update the Customer Information System with electric account data.
+ Manage time and schedules to enhance customer service and personal productivity.
+ Participate in system emergencies, such as storm restorations, by scouting incidents, providing field information, and overseeing contractor crews repairing electrical infrastructure.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with overhead and underground line design.
+ Proficiency in GIS, AutoCAD, and fault analysis.
+ Knowledge of distribution design and electrical systems.
+ Ability to design and modify electrical facilities following applicable codes, standards, and customer needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
+ Basic understanding of electrical distribution design.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
+ Preferred proficiency in GIS, CAD, and specific software packages like Enquesta, GTECH, and GTViewer.
+ Preferred knowledge of entry-level technical applications.
Work Environment
The role is based in an office setting in Chattanooga, TN or Atlanta, GA, with occasional outdoor work in various terrains and weather conditions. Regular activities include sitting, talking, and hearing, while frequent activities involve walking to lines and standing. Occasionally, the role requires pulling, pushing, climbing, balancing, reaching with arms and hands, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $66560.00/yr.
