    STGi is currently seeking a Maintenance Director to provide services at The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home.

     

    The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home is located in Temple, TX. Our staff provides compassionate and specialized care to our nation's veterans. We focus on providing the best experience for residents and their families.

     

    JOB SUMMARY: To support the community by delivering a clean, safe and well maintained environment for residents, family members and team members.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Follow oral and written instructions.

    2. Maintain material Life Safety Code book.

    3. Organize and maintain all records necessary to operate the maintenance department.

    4. Develop and implement repair and maintenance schedules for all areas of the Community and grounds.

    5. Supervise schedules for repair and maintenance by contractors.

    6. Interview and hire appropriate individuals to implement maintenance schedules.

    7. Participate in orientation of new team members.

    8. Supervise maintenance procedures in accordance with Community policy.

    9. Supervise waste disposal procedures in accordance with Community policy.

    10. Supervise proper care and use of maintenance equipment.

    11. Identify, report to administration and schedule repair of any equipment malfunction. Comply with lock out, tag out rules when appropriate.

    12. Identify, report to administration and schedule repair of areas in poor repair.

    13. Dispense maintenance equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner.

    14. Attend in-service training programs for maintenance Team Members.

    15. Monitor fire extinguisher equipment inspection dates.

    16. Enter information and maintain all required logs in a neat, organized and timely manner.

    17. Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times.

    18. Follow Community safety program and hold subordinate accountable to program.

    19. Observe infection control procedures related to the maintenance department.

    20. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.

    21. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

    22. Clock in and out in accordance with procedure.

    23. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

    24. Adhere to break, meal and clock in/out procedures.

    25. Come to work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.

    26. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents’ representatives, Community staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.

    27. Ensure the On Boarding process is adhered to effectively and consistently for all potential and current team members.

    28. Adhere to community budgets.

    29. Consistently ensure that the community maintains compliance to Life Safety requirements providing a safe environment for our residents, family members and team members.

    30. Responsible for the interior and exterior physical environment to meet administrators, Life Safety, VLB/GLO and STGi’s expectations.

    31. Work to identify and resolve issues quickly to assist in cost reduction and savings.

    32. Ensure all paperwork (Life Safety Book) and electronic maintenance program is up to date and ready for survey at any time.

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    High school diploma or GED required as well as a minimum of 5 years’ experience as maintenance assistant. Working knowledge with computer programs such as email, using the internet, Word and Excel. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Knowledge and experience on sheetrock repair i.e. tape and float. Good communication skills.

    Required Experience

    REQUIRED EDUCATION:

    High school diploma or GED required. Degree in maintenance or engineering field preferred.

    The physical demands and work environment described herein is a representative of those that generally must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

    • This position primarily involves standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing and pulling (typical weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 100 lbs., approximately), and lifting (minimum weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 100 lbs., approximately), in all types of environments, both internal and external.

    • The position requires repetitive finger movements as well as hearing and talking on the phone and in person.

    • Must be able to continuously deal effectively with stress created by residents, multiple tasks, noises, interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a pleasant attitude.
