    Reporting directly to the Director of Distance Education, the Distance Education Design Coordinator is responsible for supporting the analysis, design, development, and implementation of instructional content in a distance education environment and providing administrative and technical support to users of the college’s learning management system (Blackboard Learn). In coordination with the Director of Distance Education, the Distance Education Design Coordinator will:

     

    + Assist faculty in the design and development of online and hybrid courses and course materials for delivery of face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses

    + Collaborate with leadership, faculty, and industry experts to develop long-range online learning strategies based on research and assessment of online learning trends

    + Develop and manage distance learning projects and initiatives in support of the mission and vision of GPTC programs and in compliance with national trends, best practices, and program requirements

    + Support faculty by conducting pedagogical training and training in the use of distance learning instructional technologies, best practices, and the college’s Learning Management System through workshops, webinars, and video tutorials

    + Assist in analyzing data to assess distance education program efficacy.

    + Conduct regular evaluation of services provided and makes recommendations on future direction of project goals.

    + Provide advanced technical support to college faculty and staff in the use of the college’s learning management system (Blackboard Ultra) and technical assistance requests received via phone, tickets, and email; and escalating, as needed, to Director of Distance Education and/or GOLD-Georgia Online Learning & Development.

    + Assist faculty in managing virtual proctor events, training in sound protocols to ensure GPTC course integrity.

    + Provide troubleshooting and problem solving with technical issues.

    + Travel between campuses required (DeKalb-Clarkston, Newton and future locations)

    Minimum qualifications include:

    + Bachelor’s degree in related field and two (2) years’ experience in Post-Secondary Education.

    + Computer proficiency and experience with Learning Management Systems and demonstrated skill in the use of job related software programs (MS Office-Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Banner; Blackboard Learning Management System)

    + Learning theories and instructional design model knowledge.

    + Knowledge of internet and multi-media technologies.

    + High level customer service skills.

    + Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

    Preferred qualifications additionally include:

    + Master’s degree in related field.

    + Three to five years’ experience in Post-Secondary Education with experience in online course development, including assessment of student outcomes.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of distance education technologies.

    + Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and work under pressure in an empathetic and professional manner.

    + Effective o ral and written communication skills and ability to maintain effective relationships with multi-level personnel and patrons.

    + Familiarity with ADA guidelines

     

    Salary is commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. This is a remote position with occasional on-campus visits as needed. This is a full-time FLSA exempt position with paid state holidays, accrued annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Health and Flexible Benefits Program
