    Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs (AVPAA), the School Dean of Industrial Technologies presides as academic leader of the school, ensuring professional delivery and management of applicable academic programs, courses, and curriculum. In order to support high quality instruction and student success, the Dean provides leadership for enhancing the visibility, enrollment, and resources of Industrial, legal and professional programs while directing and supervising faculty and maintaining a broad perspective of student educational and academic needs, talent management, and curriculum development across multiple instructional campuses and sites.

    The Dean also:

    Coordinates activities with other School Deans and administrators as part of the Academic Leadership Team; makes expeditious and sound decisions on issues related to the performance of duties and responsibilities within the position’s authority and the organizational structure of the college.

     

    Works in conjunction with Vice President of Economic Development to cross-develop and co-direct technical education and continuing education industrial program delivery, student recruitment, and credential delivery.

     

    Directs recruitment, selection, and recommendation of candidates who meet appropriate standards for full-time and adjunct faculty positions, conferring with Human Resources to coordinate faculty hires for designated program areas; verifies and confirms faculty qualifications are legitimate and appropriate to appointed position.

     

    Supervises and works with Division Chair and program faculty in curriculum review process; recommends curriculum changes to the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.

     

    Directs preparation of all semester and annual program/course scheduling for school programs, ensuring compatibility with other program areas where applicable, faculty loads, and campus assignment.

     

    Ensures consistent exercise and adherence to academic policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and other criteria or guidelines by all school faculty and staff under supervision.

     

    + Ensures alignment between school programs' planning, college's strategic plan, and IE plans/directives.

    + Oversees and reviews academic program budgets with program faculty, ensuring adherence to budget and purchasing requirements.

    + Participates in program enrollment processes, including advisement and registration.

    + Oversees the development, review and revision of course syllabi.

    + Assists faculty in the attainment and continuance of program-specific accreditation.

    + Compiles program statistics.

    + Participates in the resolution to academic student grievances and the appeal processes (grade appeals).

    + Elevates faculty absences, student grievances and appeals, and other matters to AVPAA when warranted.

    + Coordinates catalog reviews for Industrial programs.

    + Facilitates procurement of program/course equipment and supplies, ensuring availability of books and materials for effective coursework delivery;

    + May be designated to facilitate courses within the school when needed.

     

    Minimum qualifications for this position include a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and three years of experience in a full-time instructional position appropriate to the school; five years’ experience in an industry relative to school. Appropriate degree must reflect the requirements of the college’s accrediting agency. Experience working within the community/technical college environment or comparable complex environment and minimum five (5) years of experience working as an assistant or associate dean, dean, or program chair/director is preferred.

     

    Master's degree *and* Three (3) years of related experience.
