A Production Expeditor is responsible for planning and coordinating activities required to move orders through the Specials Department, such as delivering materials, tools, and supplies to production areas, as well as scheduling orders or work cells.
Requirements
+ Review incoming shop orders for accuracy and completeness.
+ Prepare and verify production schedules for orders.
+ Ensure all materials to produce the product are in stock or on order.
+ Monitor production cells and replenish materials, tools, and supplies to prevent stoppages.
+ Monitor progress of released shop orders, focusing on adherence to schedule and on-time delivery.
+ Coordinate with the inventory department to ensure accurate inventory levels.
+ The ability to challenge Production and other groups when delivery dates are requested to be pushed out.
+ When necessary, adjust production schedules in response to manufacturing and supply chain issues.
+ Communicate with leads, operators, and supervisors to understand material needs and priorities.
+ Communicate with production personnel to determine work progress, completion dates, and proactively communicate delays to management.
+ Track status and expedite materials on assigned production jobs.
+ Recommend changes to production and purchasing plans to fulfill customer delivery times.
+ Assist in staging materials for upcoming jobs or shifts.
+ Identify opportunities for improvement in cost, quality, productivity, and process.
+ Manufacture products within their scope of knowledge and capabilities.
+ Perform other duties as assigned, based on workload and business need.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ High School diploma or GED.
+ Experience in an expediting or planning capacity in a similar high-mix/low-volume production environment.
+ 4+ years of CDC experience working in the Specials Department, preferred.
TECHNICAL / FUNCTION SPECIFIC:
+ Ability to read blueprints.
+ Advanced math skills.
+ Intermediate reading skills.
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to understand and interpret manufacturing procedures.
+ Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles (ex: 5S, Just in Time, Kanban) a plus.
+ Working knowledge of computers sufficient to successfully use company ERP systems, Microsoft Windows, and Office.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Sufficient manual dexterity to successfully use a computer.
+ Frequently required to stand and/or walk, up to 10 hours per day, and make frequent trips from the manufacturing area to the office area.
+ Ability to independently lift to 50 pounds as needed and lift 50 pounds with the aid of hoists and other equipment.
+ Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing area, including, but not limited to, safety glasses and safety shoes.
+ Ability and willingness to work overtime, including other shifts and weekends, as required per the needs of the business.
