Job Title: Polisher

Job Description

The role involves performing grinding, sanding, polishing, and buffing on stainless steel welds and surfaces using various hand and power tools, such as grinders, sanders, and polishing wheels. The goal is to ensure welds are smooth, clean, and free of imperfections like scratches, burrs, and discoloration. Additionally, you will read work orders, blueprints, and drawings for finishing requirements and operate forklifts and overhead cranes. The role also includes assisting with miscellaneous shop jobs, including deliveries and pickups from suppliers, and cutting, drilling, sanding, and shearing stainless steel sheet metal.

Responsibilities

+ Perform grinding, sanding, polishing, and buffing on stainless steel welds and surfaces.

+ Ensure welds are smooth, clean, and free from imperfections such as scratches, burrs, and discoloration.

+ Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and drawings for finishing requirements.

+ Operate forklifts and overhead cranes.

+ Assist with miscellaneous shop tasks such as deliveries, pickups, cutting, drilling, sanding, and shearing stainless steel sheet metal.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in fabrication, general production, grinding, sanding, or deburring.

+ Familiarity with various types and grades of stainless steel.

+ Attention to detail and ability to meet high cosmetic requirements for welds.

+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.

+ Physical ability to crawl, crouch, stand, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.

+ Ability to work in tight spots and confined spaces.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Prior experience in grinding, deburring, car detailing, or metal finishing is advantageous.

+ Quality control or quality inspection experience.

+ Interest in contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

+ Valid driver's license.

Work Environment

The work environment is a workshop setting where custom stainless steel tanks are made for fuel, food and water processing, and alcohol fermentation. The shop is fairly clean but has exposure to noise, dust, and metal particles. You will work alongside 15-20 other people on the production floor.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
