    Job Title: Sheet Metal Mechanic

    Job Description

    As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will study building plans and working drawings to determine the necessary work aids and sequence of installations. Your role involves inspecting structures to identify obstructions and prevent weakening during pipe installations. You will be responsible for marking positions for pipes and creating passage holes in walls and floors. The job includes cutting and threading pipes, bending them to the required angles, and assembling and installing valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of various materials. You will join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and other methods, and test pipe systems for leaks. Additionally, you will install and repair plumbing fixtures and maintain plumbing systems by addressing issues like leaky faucets and clogged drains.

    Responsibilities

    + Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids and sequence of installations.

    + Inspect structures to identify obstructions and prevent weakening during installation.

    + Mark positions for pipes and create passage holes in walls and floors.

    + Cut and thread pipes, and bend them using pipe-bending machines or hand methods.

    + Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of various materials.

    + Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and other methods.

    + Test pipe systems with water or air and read pressure gauges to check for leaks.

    + Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, and more.

    + Maintain plumbing systems by replacing washers, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in construction and sheet metal work.

    + Experience in plumbing and HVAC systems.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

    + Skill in duct work and installation.

    + Competence in commercial construction and pipe threading.

    + Knowledge of mechanical systems and HVAC maintenance.

    + Experience with piping, hand tools, and pipe fitting.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Understanding of industrial plumbing design and cooling systems.

    + Capability to assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures.

    + Flexibility to perform other duties assigned by management.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Afton, Tennessee.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
