    Pipelayer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dependable and skilled **Pipelayer** to install, align, and maintain underground piping systems for **water, sewer, and storm drainage** on commercial and civil construction sites.

    Responsibilities

    Excavate and grade trenches manually or with equipment to proper depth and slope

     

    Lay and align **PVC, concrete, and ductile iron pipe** for storm, sewer, and water systems

     

    Connect pipe sections using **gaskets, glue, or welding** , ensuring watertight seals

     

    Backfill trenches and compact soil to required specifications

     

    Operate or assist with **lasers, levels, and trench boxes** to ensure accuracy and safety

     

    Collaborate with equipment operators, foremen, and inspectors to meet project timelines

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment operation experience.

    + 2-3+ years experience operating excavators, dozers, and front-end loaders.

    + Comfortable occasionally working outside the cab.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in commercial construction and site development.

    + Proficiency with fine grading and rough grade techniques.

    + Knowledge of vibratory rollers.

    Work Environment

     

    You will work an average of 40-50 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 7am to 5pm, with some flexibility required for weekend work based on weather conditions. The job sites are located in the Richmond Metro area, with the furthest site being 45 minutes from Chester, VA. You must be flexible to work across all 15 job sites.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, Virginia.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
