    Job Summary:

    This employee will work at a bakery & sweet shop that allows for workshops for clients and other participants. The bakery staff will strive to provide excellent baked items and service in an efficient, professional manner. The Bakery staff will assist bakers and managers in product execution and display/packaging, using icing, glazes, fillings, and decorations to enhance item presentation, and process orders from customers. The bakery staff will also greet customers, answer questions, clean workstations and equipment, and perform other duties to ensure that customer needs are satisfied and the bakery is well-stocked and operating smoothly. The Bakery staff should be efficient and friendly with a focus on food quality and customer satisfaction. You should be organized, decisive, attentive, and possess a strong understanding of customer service.

    Essential Job Duties:

    - Exhibits appropriate language and dress

    - Following and executing recipes.

     

    - Measuring and combining ingredients and using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, bread, cakes, etc.

     

    - Decorating and displaying finished products.

     

    - Greeting customers, answering questions, making recommendations, accepting orders and payments, and providing exceptional customer service.

     

    - Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.

     

    - Keep product stocked for daily operations.

     

    - Manage supplies and preparation; communicate to staff when order supplies is necessary

     

    - Keep storage, preparation and working areas clean and orderly

     

    - Work as a team member with other bakery, WAY and agency staff

     

    - Contribute useable information concerning specialty area

     

    - Cash out customers and make change correctly

     

    - Demonstrate accountability for cash drawer, etc.

     

    - Attend regularly scheduled supervision meetings and staff development training as needed

     

    - Attend in-service training as needed

     

    - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret recipes and customer order forms.

     

    - Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints, or understand when to consult management for assistance.

     

    - Ability to appropriately interact with, monitor and assess, and transfer skills to employees.

     

    - Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials related to trades.

     

    - Working knowledge of POS System

     

    - Strong communication, time and resource management, and planning skills, and interpersonal skills.

     

    - Attention to detail, especially when performing quality inspections on ingredients and products.

     

    - Basic math and computer skills.

     

    - Willingness to work independently or with other team members to solve problems, plan schedules, fulfill orders, and create amazing baked goods.

     

    - Flexibility to work around customer demands, including early morning, night, weekend and holiday availability.

     

    - Ability to work in hot, hectic environment, stand, walk, bend, use hands and appliances, and lift heavy items for extended periods.

    Education:

    - HS diploma preferred

    Experience:

    - 1 year minimum experience in career related field

     

    - Food Handler Certification, preferred

    Licenses:

    - Valid N.Y.S Driver’s License preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
