    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Prepare and review state income and franchise tax returns, including supporting workpapers and disclosures

    + Calculate and analyze apportionment factors across multiple jurisdictions to ensure accurate state filings

    + Prepare and monitor state estimated tax payments and extensions in accordance with jurisdictional requirements

    + Assist with state income tax audits, notices, and other tax controversies, including drafting responses and compiling supporting documentation

    + Contribute to the preparation and review of the state portion of the income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740

    + Collaborate with outside tax advisors on complex state tax issues, planning opportunities, and compliance matters

    + Coordinate with internal accounting, finance, and legal teams to gather data, review transactions, and ensure consistent tax treatment

    + Research and analyze state tax laws and legislative changes to assess impact on the company’s tax position

    + Maintain accurate records of tax filings, correspondence, and audit activity for internal tracking and documentation purposes

    + Support process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the state income tax function

     

    Skills, Experience and Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a related field required; Master’s in Taxation or CPA certification is a plus

    + 3 to 5 years of corporate state income and franchise tax experience, preferably in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm

    Skills and Qualifications:

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications; ability to work with large datasets and pivot tables

    + Experience with CORPTax tax compliance software is a plus

    + Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

    + Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments and with external advisors

    + Strong understanding of state income/franchise tax concepts, including apportionment, estimated payments, and state-specific adjustments

    + Experience preparing and reviewing multistate corporate income tax returns and supporting documentation

    + Familiarity with tax research tools and the ability to analyze and interpret tax laws and regulations

    Salary Ranges

     

    Compensation: $63,150.00/Year - $90,000.00/Year

    The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
