    Department Summary

    As the Director, Network Engineering, you'll lead the strategic design, implementation, and optimization of our network infrastructure across on-premise, data center, and cloud environments. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our network, particularly as we build out DISH's cutting-edge 5G network, which leverages cloud-native technologies and a distributed computing platform.

     

    You'll be a key player in shaping our network's future, collaborating with a world-class team to deliver innovative solutions. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic vision with operational excellence, driving the successful delivery of complex network projects.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    + Lead Network Strategy & Design: Drive the architectural design, engineering, and implementation of robust and scalable network solutions across on-premise facilities, data centers, and public/private cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

    + Oversee Network Implementation: Guide and oversee the successful deployment of network infrastructure and services, ensuring adherence to design specifications, performance standards, and project timelines.

    + Optimize Network Performance: Continuously monitor and analyze network performance, identifying areas for optimization and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce latency, and improve overall user experience.

    + Manage Network Operations Escalations: Provide leadership and hands-on technical expertise for escalated network incidents and complex problem resolution, ensuring rapid recovery and root cause analysis.

    + Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with architecture, operations, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions and alignment with overall business objectives.

    + Vendor and Partner Management: Collaborate with hardware and software vendors, as well as internal and external partners, to evaluate new technologies, troubleshoot issues, and relay critical product feedback.

    + Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of network engineers. Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and innovation, ensuring the team is equipped to meet evolving technological demands.

    + Project Delivery & Accountability: Hold the Network Engineering team accountable for deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

    Skills, Experience and Requirements

    + 12+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, with a significant focus on designing, implementing, and managing complex networks across on-premise, data center, and cloud environments.

    + Minimum 7-8 years of demonstrated progressive leadership experience, including managing managers, and leading global cross-functional teams.

    + Deep expertise in IP networking fundamentals, including routing protocols (e.g., SRv6, BGP, ISIS, etc), switching, and network virtualization technologies.

    + Extensive experience with cloud networking principles and hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure VNet, GCP VPC).

    + Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale enterprise or service provider networks.

    + Strong understanding of network hardware and software, including routers, switches (Cisco experience required), and network management tools.

    + Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical teams, fostering growth and delivering results in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of the organization.

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.

    + Passion for new technologies and a proactive approach to learning and adopting emerging network trends.

     

    Salary Ranges

     

    Compensation: $185,000.00/Year - $225,000.00/Year

    The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
