Job Duties and Responsibilities

**EchoStar** has an exciting opportunity for a **Principal Revenue Accountant** in our **Hughes Network Systems** division. This role will be responsible for ensuring revenue recognition. This position will be located in our **Germantown, MD** office.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Review executed customer contracts and agreements to ensure appropriate revenue recognition treatment and to identify and communicate revenue recognition issues.

+ Partner with program managers, contract administrators, and finance counterparts to ensure proper revenue and cost recognition for all fully executed agreements.

+ Perform technical review of contracts over certain threshold to ensure revenue is appropriately recognized.

+ Ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls.

+ Prepare recurring and period-end journal entries and revenue analysis, including Lessor accounting.

+ Prepare asset and liability balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forward schedules, to include recommending and preparing adjusting journal entries.

+ Review progress billings, unbilled and programs in process (PIP) balances for accuracy and abnormalities.

+ Ensure that contractual backlog is properly computed and reported.

+ Interface with internal and external auditors.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

+ 3+ years of related accounting experience, including significant exposure to revenue recognition issues – predominantly at large public companies

+ 3+ years of working with large, global ERP systems (Oracle or SAP preferred); Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Planning

+ 2+ years public accounting

+ CPA/CMA (or international equivalent, or in progress).

Skills and Qualifications:

+ Master’s Degree in Accounting

+ Experience at the Big Four

+ Proven ability to be decisive, resolve issues, and deliver on commitments and deadlines

+ Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in problem-solving and project collaboration

+ Highly skilled in data analysis and proven ability to present data in a clear, concise and compelling manner to all levels of management

+ Comfortable in discussing issues, strategy and negotiating with Company executives

+ Proven self-starter who doesn’t need much guidance to get projects done in an excellent manner

+ Superior writing skills

+ Superior Excel modeling skills

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $67,000.00/Year - $84,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
