In this position, you will be playing a pivotal role in advancing research by linking our stakeholders with scientific and medical information resources. A successful Senior Specialist will have a drive for mastering a wide range of databases and tools, and a strong commitment to empowering researchers, clinicians, and other end users to leverage these resources effectively. This role offers the opportunity to provide education and consultation on tools, and to collaborate across departments to ensure awareness and access to high-quality information that drives scientific discovery and innovation. The ideal candidate will possess scientific acumen along with technical skills, excellent communication skills, and background in pharma/biotech. Familiarity with GenAI is a plus. In addition, the candidate will leverage data to drive resource utilization and maintain up-to-date awareness of literature-related copyright compliance, vendor tools, and information retrieval strategies. Primary activities include, but are not limited to:
+ Consulting with stakeholders on the effective use of searching databases, and creating effective search strategies
+ Collaborating with research teams to understand their information needs and tailor support accordingly
+ Staying current with emerging pharmaceutical information tools and databases
+ Supporting document delivery requests and end-user requests
+ Obtaining journal articles and book chapters for internal stakeholders and agency partners
+ Assisting with negotiations of subscribed content under the direction of the Director
+ Tracking and triaging support and training requests with Library team members
+ Managing access to external information systems such as databases, literature platforms, and pharmacopoeias
+ Collecting and reporting on resource usage statistics, and conducting assessments regarding current and future external information needs
+ Consulting with stakeholders on the compliant use of externally licensed information throughout the organization, including copyright
+ Collaborating with Library team members in continually educating stakeholders about Library’s licensed resources and services
+ Contributing to education and awareness through internal marketing efforts and training
+ Collaborating with Library team members on user acceptance testing and to system development lifecycle
Education
+ Degree in life sciences, information science, or related scientific discipline, plus pharma/biotech industry or healthcare experience
+ Bachelor’s and 5+ years’ experience
+ Master’s/PhD and 3+ years’ experience
Required Skills and Experience
+ Growth mindset for continuous personal professional development, staying abreast of industry trends, and applying new knowledge to enhance Library services
+ Experience with biomedical, basic research, chemistry, and biotechnology information resources, and commercial literature searching tools such as PubMed, Embase, SciFinder, Dialog, or STN
+ Proficiency in conveying complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including researchers, clinicians, regulatory affairs professionals, and other stakeholders
+ Customer Focus – Driven to understand customer needs, improve services, and maintain effective customer relations
+ Ability to develop and maintain close working relationships with key internal departments and external contacts
+ Ability to collect, analyze, and report on meaningful resource usage metrics to drive value and communicate impact
+ Familiarity with copyright compliance and literature-related regulations
+ Ability to perform independent research to learn and master new systems and tools
+ Attention to detail, ability to problem-solve and work independently, escalating risks and issues as appropriate Excellent organizational skills to multi-task effectively
+ Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication
+ Strong collaboration and networking skills
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
Preferred Skills and Experience
+ Experience in partnering with a diverse set of business stakeholders across geographies, therapy areas, and functions
+ Familiarity or experience with emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
+ Quick learner and self-starter

The salary range for this role is
$104,200.00 - $163,900.00
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
