About This Position
+ Diagnose and repair operational issues in locks, locking systems, and door closures.
+ Install, replace, clean, and maintain mechanical and electronic locks for various applications.
+ Perform lock rekeying, combination changes, and lock opening using tools or dismantling methods.
+ Measure, cut, and install lock hardware according to precise specifications.
+ Perform preventive maintenance and repair on doors, hinges, and closure systems.
+ Install and maintain door hardware (levers, knobs, panic bars) to ensure safe access and ADA compliance.
+ Fabricate and duplicate keys, stamp codes, and set up key cores and lock cylinders.
+ Maintain accurate records of keys and key cores using computerized key management systems.
+ Preserve the integrity of grand master, master, and sub-master key systems.
+ Complete daily tasks on time, document activities in Archibus and Kronos, and maintain tools and vehicles.
Work Hours:
+ 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
+ Monday – Friday
+ Rotating on-call required
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
+ A High School Diploma or its equivalent.
+ Three (3) years of experience, education, training or any combination of experience with commercial, institutional key, lock and door egress devices.
+ A valid Florida Driver’s License at time of hire.
Preferred Qualification:
+ Course work in locksmith craft/trade.
+ Five (5+) years of experience working with locks and lock paraphernalia.
+ Advanced Locksmith for Correction Facility Certified (County will pay for the 40+ hour course which is taught in Florida).
+ Computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Smartsheet and familiarity with a Work Order Management System.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
CJIS Clearance: The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay: $21.54 (Step 1)
Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience.
