As a Crew Leader, you’ll be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily field activities of assigned staff while performing maintenance and repairs on the County’s Rights-of-Way and Drainage Conveyance Systems.

    About This Role

    + Coordinate and supervise daily work activities of assigned staff.

    + Lead teams that may include Equipment Operators III, Skilled Trades Workers I/II, and Trades Workers.

    + Oversee Stormwater maintenance operations.

    + Ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

    + Manage work on county property, rights-of-way (ROWs), and easements.

    + Provide guidance and support to crew members.

    + Monitor work quality and adherence to standards.

    + Meet with Customers to resolve issues relating to the drainage conveyance system and blockage or backup concerns.

    + Record and complete daily work task data using manual or computerized devices to create and complete tasks and maintenance records.

    + May be required to operate specialized equipment; Gradall, Dump trucks, backhoes, excavators, skid loaders, front end loaders, and other related equipment required to maintain and repair road rights-of-ways and stormwater conveyance systems.

    Work Hours:

    + Monday – Friday

    + 40-hours a week

    + 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

    + *On-Call Required

     

    About You

    Minimum Qualifications :

    + A High School Diploma or its equivalent.

    + 1 - 3 years of experience in operations, maintenance, and construction.

    + A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.

    + Must acquire Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker “N” endorsement within six (6) months from the time of hire.

    + Must acquire a certification in Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control within twelve months from the time of hire.

    Preferred "Bonus" Qualifications:

    + Four (4) years of advanced experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of stormwater conveyance systems in/or around road rights-of-ways, county owned property and easements.

    + Possession of a Class “A” Driver License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement.

    + Experience in operating equipment used in the stormwater construction industry.

     

    Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

     

    Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

    About Everything Else

    Starting Pay: $22.62 (Step 1)

     

    Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience.
