Description of Work Unit
The mission of Laboratory Animal Resources is to use our expertise to provide the highest standard of care for laboratory animals in support of the CSU research community. This position fulfills a vital role in the administration of LAR to carry out this mission.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for general cleaning including laundry and running floor machines; minor facility repairs and in barrier locations.; and transportation of supplies and biohazardous materials. The work is physical, and entails standing, bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds. Staff are expected to work safely and adhere to all safety instructions and rules at all times.
Required Job Qualifications
+ A High School Diploma, General Education Development ( GED ), or equivalent.
+ One year of experience which includes warehousing, handling, shipping, receiving, storing, inventory, and/or distribution of goods.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license and pass an annual motor vehicle check to drive department owned vehicles.
+ Must be willing to complete the Colorado State University Department of Transportation Short Haul training program.
+ Must be willing to complete biosafety training and receive appropriate vaccinations.
+ Must be willing to work in various environments including outdoors, close quarters, increased heat and humidity and dusty surroundings.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Six months experience in bio safety level 1, 2, and 3 in a research facility.
+ Experience with industrial equipment including but not limited to; tommy gates, ship tools, floor scrubbers, washers, dryers, large 2-axel delivery trucks.
+ Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a large, multi-disciplinary team providing research support involving animal care, facilities management, and research technical services.
+ A positive attitude, a desire to learn, and the commitment to provide excellent customer service.
+ Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL )

+ To provide custodial services to all LAR facilities ensuring locations are tidy, clean, and well-maintained.
+ Duties include but are not limited to laundry, sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and scrubbing bathrooms, anterooms, breezeways, break rooms, kitchens, offices, maintaining cleaning equipment, etc as needed.
