SUMMARY
The pharmacy manager serves as the pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) for the hospital and is responsible for establishing and implementing policies and procedures for all operations of the pharmacy and for ensuring that pharmacy operations and practices comply with all requirements of federal and state pharmacy and drug laws, rules, and regulations.
The pharmacy manager plans, directs, and monitors the hospital pharmacys financial, operational, professional, and clinical activities.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
+ Develop and maintain policies and procedures for medication management practices that comply with applicable regulatory standards (for example, sterile compounding/ USP guidelines; security and storage of controlled substances/ Board of Pharmacy rules; pharmacists coverage when the department is closed/ CMS COP).
+ Maintain, implement, and monitor clinical pharmacy services (for example, antibiotic and other drug regimen reviews, multidisciplinary rounds, pharmacokinetic consults, medication reconciliation, patient education).
+ Lead a productive and viable Pharmacy Department to support patient care services:
+ Manage the daily operation of the hospital Pharmacy and perform duties of other staff members as needed.
+ Coach, motivate, direct, and evaluate staff.
+ Interface with other services and departments in providing pharmaceutical services.
+ Coordinates implementation of specific action plans at the departmental level aimed at meeting annual priority goals, metrics and objectives that align with the WCHC strategic plan.
+ Promotes customer satisfaction through response to customer perceptions of services provided in a professional and constructive manner. Ensures departmental culture is responsive to patients, families and employees.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
+ Pharm.D. or B.S. from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy, is required.Current licensure as a pharmacist, by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, is required.
+ ASHP-accredited residency in clinical/ hospital pharmacy, or equivalent experience, is required.
+ Minimum three years of hospital pharmacy practice experience, including one in a supervisory capacity, is desirable.
+ BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of hire
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little direct supervision in planning and organizing his/her work.
+ Able to select, train, coach, motivate, direct, evaluate, and discipline staff.
+ Knowledgeable regarding hospital pharmacy practice and management.
+ Capable of performing clinical pharmacist duties as needed.
+ Strong analytical and communication skills.
