Your Specific Responsibilities:
Responsible for the supervision of Regulatory Specialist II and Regulatory Specialist III positions for the Board of Nursing Licensure Unit to include monitoring the behavior and performance for staff and completing evaluations by established deadlines, planning and directing their work, approving requests for leave, approving timesheets, filing vacant positions, training and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions. The incumbent assists the Deputy Executive Director in managing the day-to-day operation of the licensure unit. The employee in this position must use discretion and independent judgment in performing the following duties:
The incumbent must lead by example. This includes coming to work dressed appropriately based on the standards outlined in the department’s dress code. This position must also behave according to required training, policy and the behavior policies outlined in the employee handbook. This also includes completing work assignments and timesheets by established deadlines. Any time the incumbent is scheduled to be out of the office when timesheets are due, they are required to complete their timesheet prior to their departure.
The incumbent is responsible for completing all the required steps to hire any vacancies under their supervision.
Planning the workload, workflow, deadlines and work objectives of employees and ensuring that they have the appropriate training, tools and authority to meet those objectives. The incumbent should run the appropriate database reports daily to adequately monitor the workflow. The incumbent is also responsible for monitoring their email and the office email boxes daily. The supervisor should have their email box open at all times and should be monitoring their email for any updates.
The incumbent is expected to meet monthly with each of their direct reports to provide constructive feedback. This feedback should include where the employee is currently with meeting evaluation criteria. Any feedback given to an employee about performance or behavior problems must be followed up with an email to the staff person recapping the discussion. The incumbent must implement corrective action when necessary.
The incumbent must provide counsel and advice to phone staff, Regulatory Specialist II’s and other stakeholders regarding licensure and regulation criteria and procedures. The supervisor must ensure that staff have a working knowledge of the procedures, statutes and rules governing the licensure of nurses. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting staff with the appropriate application of laws and rules.
The incumbent is responsible for the review and approval of refund requests. Such request should be reviewed and approved within 5 business day of receipt.
Serve as liaison between the National Council of State Boards of Nursing and the testing vendor to help troubleshoot problems for applicants registering for the examination or trying to obtain verification of licensure from other states, as well as monitoring and reporting incidences of fraudulent activity. Consults with staff regarding files with criminal/disciplinary/health histories or no active license status.
This position is responsible for ensuring the Nurse Program Portal interface between programs and the department are transmitting properly. Works to troubleshoot and resolve issues including contacting Information Technology.
Analyzes consumer complaints, investigating and resolving consumer concerns or ensuring complaints are routed to the appropriate unit or department for handling. Processes disability modification requests for licensure.
Supports the Deputy Executive Director in the implementation of laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to licensure functions and activities and provides input regarding regulatory changes. Aides in long-range planning sessions.
Serves as a liaison between the Board office and System Support Services (SSS) on licensing and/or enforcement database concerns. Acts as first point of contact for training needs, technical support, information dissemination and troubleshooting user issues. Ensures that new employees receive training in the use of the Division’s licensing database and related internet tools. Assist with set-up and changes to form letters, data clean-up and other concerns related to the Division’s licensing and enforcement data integrity. Produces and reviews licensing or enforcement reports as needed.

Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2 years administrative experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, travel arrangement preparation, and/or personnel and budget review. College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis).
+ Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), iBuilder, iViewer, Adobe Acrobat, and LEIDS systems.
