Position summary:
Fire Instructors provide fire service instruction according to NFPA and TCFP standards. This involves delivering instructional materials, demonstrating proper techniques, evaluating student performance, and maintaining training facilities and equipment. This position will include academic support for onsite courses, skills training, and guidance for high school-based dual credit fire academy.
Position responsibilities:
Qualified to teach basic and advanced TCFP classes, perform TCFP skills training, and assess students as a TCFP
+ Field Examiner.
+ Train and educate future firefighters.
+ Evaluate and deliver instructional materials.
+ Demonstrate firefighting techniques.
+ Help maintain training facilities and equipment.
+ Serves as instructor/ teacher for classes and courses as needed.
+ Assist with on-campus and off-campus fire instruction when necessary.
+ Assist the Assistant Director with Dual Credit classes management.
+ Promote dual credit to high schools, students, and parents.
+ Assist dual credit lead instructors with learning management systems for curriculum delivery.
+ Provide support for enrollment activities for high school dual credit fire academy students.
+ Serve as a liaison between high school and college faculty to establish new and maintain existing agreements for the Fire Academy.
+ Monitor academic progress of courses. Collaborate with instructors and guidance counselors to address student needs/issues when appropriate.
+ Promote the Fire Academy and various classes
+ Provide information about the college and promote relevant programs at Kilgore College.
+ Assist with the development of collaborative relationships with on-campus personnel, local schools, colleges/universities and community agencies and organizations.
Minimum Position Requirements:
+ Active TCFP Certifications: Fire Instructor II, Fire Officer II, Driver Operator, Incident Safety Officer.
+ Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience and/or similar in high school teaching.
+ Bachelor or higher degree in student personnel, counseling, or closely related field preferred, or Associates Degree with Instructor III certification.
+ Experience in managing multiple projects.
+ Familiar with Microsoft Office software and multiple Learning Managements Systems: JBLearning, IFSTA, and Blackboard Ultra.
+ Willingness and ability to travel.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Skills and experience in public speaking preferred.
+ Demonstrate leadership, diplomatic, entrepreneurial, planning, and problem-solving skills.
+ Must have a flexible work schedule with occasional evening and/or weekend work hours.
+ Able to obtain HSI Instructor card within 30 days of hire.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
+ 3 Full-Time Direct Reports 4-6 Part-Time Direct Reports
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
+ Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
+ Work in recruitment events.
+ Work outside with students/ instructors.
+ Some instruction may take place during inclement weather conditions.
+ Lift up to 40 lbs
.Safety:
+ Provide resources for safe operation of instruction and training. Create and support workplace safety.

+ Tuition scholarships are for the employee and dependents.
+ Compensation for this 12-month position is based on years of teaching at institutions of higher education, and highest level of education. Base pay for no experience ranges from $41,431 for an associate's degree to $51,127 for a doctorate. Overload and summer classes are paid separately.
Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program.
All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
