Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position serves as the Distributed Computer Systems Specialist and works under the general supervision of the Data Processing Administrator-SES (DPA), position 64061884. This position is responsible for technical work installing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting multiple distributed computer systems for use by end-users including the hardware, software, and communications components of distributed systems.
Installs and implements distributed computer systems hardware, software, and communications components including enhancements and upgrades. Edits and modifies configuration files for the distributed computer system OS, applications for communicating with other computers, printers, and other peripheral equipment. Monitors the use of software and hardware through the network and provides for on-going identification and resolution of user needs. Conducts on-site system reviews to evaluate user compliance to systems standards and procedures. Operates equipment in conjunction with the DPA to test new programs. Conducts on-going support to identify methods/ techniques for improving the use of existing hardware, software, and to improve written documentation. Assists the DPA in the development and coordination of distributed infrastructure plan (both short and long term) for the LAN. Responsible for directing the work to the other DCSS positions for projects at the direction of the DPA. Including monitoring and completing IT tickets assigned to team, distributing work and maintaining a balance of workload throughout the team. Image computers and laptops with new images provided by the Network Administrator. Provides reports to the DPA on the daily task and projects.
Serves as liaison with vendors in solving routine problems with the communication components. Coordinates the repair or installation of telecommunication components. Configures and troubleshoots cellular devices. Onsite backup to Network Administrator for any emergency issues needing to be handled right away. Ability to follow detailed instructions. High level of attention to details. Prepare and update required documentation. Responsible for monitoring, ordering and stocking of hardware supplies as needed by the DPA.
Act as backup for inventory manager. Assist with bi-annual inventories. Conduct county annual inventory. Ability to follow detailed instructions. Prepare and update required documentation. Receive and dispose assets in accordance with established procedures. Record and maintain assets in the inventory system. Apply local and county inventory tags on assets deemed valueable. Provide custom inventory reports.
Serves as a representative for Audio Visual equipment. Responsible for supporting and troubleshooting video conferencing systems and components, scheduling sessions, establishing connections, and sharing computer content.
Performs related work as required.

Must have experience resolving user problems, interoperability issues, and diagnosing product defects
Must have experience entering, updating, and maintaining asset data within Asset Panda's platform
Must have experience receiving assets in AMS and disposing of assets within Volusia County Property Management system
Must be a current Florida Department of Health employee, in a Selected Exempt Service (SES), Career Service (CS), or Other Personal Services (OPS) position
