    + Description:

    + Salary is Non-Negotiable. The successful candidate will be hired at the minimum salary. NEW SALARY: $44,217.36 (annual salary of $42,222.36 plus Competitive Area Differential pay of $166.25 per month).

     

    This position is responsible for providing guidance and support to judges on substantive and procedural legal matters, with a particular focus on felony mental health cases. The Case Manager serves as a liaison between the Judiciary and various stakeholders, including other courts, the Clerk of Courts, attorneys, community-based service providers, and involved parties. The role is designed to improve access to the court for both agency partners and litigants.

     

    Under the general supervision of a Mental Health Program Coordinator, the Case Manager is responsible for a broad range of duties, including providing case-related information to court personnel, coordinating cases, and facilitating referrals to community-based services. The role also involves managing and preparing cases for court hearings, briefing judges, attending hearings, maintaining filing systems, scheduling hearings, addressing the court, and performing related clerical tasks. The Case Manager also contributes to the development and improvement of work methods and procedures.

     

    This position is eligible for a hybrid remote/onsite work schedule after a 90-day period, in accordance with Circuit policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities:

    + Consults directly with judges on cases involving defendants diagnosed with mental illness or intellectual disabilities.

    + Coordinates community-based services, including residential, psychiatric, and substance use treatment for criminal defendants.

    + Develops conditional release plans and drafts orders for judicial approval.

    + Manages a caseload of supervised defendants to ensure compliance with court-ordered conditions.

    + Prepares cases for court, attends hearings, briefs judges, and maintains case notes and filing systems.

    + Screens and schedules cases, notifies all parties of court dates, and assists with scheduling outpatient evaluations.

    + Serves as a liaison between the court, attorneys, service agencies, and treatment providers.

    + Delivers transport orders to the Department of Corrections Transportation Unit.

    + Uploads case-related documentation to the Mental Health Administrator’s database.

    + Performs additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.

    + Two (2) years of related work experience. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year for-year basis.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

    + Strong understanding of the criminal justice system, including court functions and jurisdiction.

    + Familiarity with local mental health and substance use treatment providers and residential facilities for forensic clients.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and general office equipment (e.g., scanner, copier).

    + Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and make decisions consistent with laws, regulations, and departmental policies.

    + Skill in maintaining accurate case documentation and preparing written materials.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express ideas clearly and succinctly.

    + Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, attorneys, colleagues, service providers, and the public.

    + Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
