Job Summary
The University Campus Store is seeking part-time retail associates to engage and connect with students, faculty, staff and fans of the University of Utah at our Sandy University Campus Store, located on the first floor of the University of Utah Sandy Center, at 10011 Centennial Parkway, Sandy, UT. Responsibilities
+ Provide an exceptional customer experience by ensuring the customer is always the priority.
+ Determine customer needs based on customer preferences; suggest additional merchandise to compliment customer selection.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of store products and services to build sales and minimize returns.
+ Demonstrate proficiency in POS systems.
+ Retrieve additional merchandise at customers’ request (i.e., retrieve merchandise from stockroom; pull merchandise to assist Develop new business and expand client base through in-store interaction, suggestive selling, and on the floor presence.
+ Maintain department recovery standards, including selling floor and fitting rooms.
+ Deliver optimal merchandise execution presentation through merchandise placement, execution, and style, including visual elements.
+ Ensure accurate merchandise pricing, and process markdowns in a timely and accurate manner.
+ Assist in inventory and markdown process.
+ Assist in picking, packing, and shipping merchandise to fulfill customer orders as needed.
+ Adhere to Asset Protection policies and procedures, including shortage prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of retail sales experience; a minimum of one year of experience supervising employees and buying merchandise; and effective oral and written communication skills required. A commitment to the concept of excellence in service is expected from the incumbent. An Associate Degree in Business, or a related field, or two years of related college work along with the above requirements or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education) is preferred. Other specific preferences may be called for, depending on the unique needs in a given area.
