Based in the GSB, the Center for Social Innovation (CSI) educates insightful leaders for social and environmental change. The center prepares GSB students to apply their management and leadership skills to solve the world’s toughest problems through courses and extra-curricular programs that promote understanding of deeply entrenched social issues, teach the skills needed to address them, inspire a life of action, build community, and reduce the financial burdens of pursuing impact careers.
The Center for Social Innovation at the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks an Assistant Director, Operations. The Assistant Director will use technology and project management skills, sound judgment, and understanding of student needs to administer the Certificate in Public Management and Social Innovation, manage application and judging
processes for summer and post-graduation fellowships and prizes, lead other assigned program operations, inform program and management processes, and strengthen the social impact community at the GSB. The Assistant Director also supports the entire CSI team in data management, reporting, communications, community-building, and events planning.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a fast-moving team focused on advancing innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. You will interact with graduate students, staff, faculty, alumni, and external stakeholders to deliver and continuously improve programs to educate insightful leaders for social and environmental change.
The position requires strong communications skills, careful consideration of school policies, and sound judgment for decision-making. Success in this role also requires coordination with other school departments, motivation to support students' learning, an entrepreneurial mindset, comfort in using multiple technology platforms, and acute process and detail orientation.
This role is a 6-month fixed-term position to backfill a team member on a leave of absence.
Your primary responsibilities* include:
+ Under general supervision, administer, support, and manage CSI programs.
+ Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day CSI activities by identifying and executing tasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of the program.
+ Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; develop and maintain complex spreadsheets to manage program data; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
+ Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program or function.
+ Represent CSI as a key contact and subject matter expert within the school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent the program to external and internal stakeholders and constituencies.
+ Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning and promoting events and/or conferences.
+ May participate in development of budgets, monitor, and approve expenditures. May perform limited forecasting and provide recommendations that determine the budget.
+ May supervise interns.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
+ Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Advanced degree preferred. Experience in the social sector and/or higher education is desirable.
+ Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
+ Ability to exercise sound judgment routinely and independently in making decisions.

+ Comfort with technology and data management.
+ Functional experience in financial analysis, operations, program management, or customer service is desirable.
+ Ability to work a hybrid schedule.
+ Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
The expected pay range for this position is $100,023 to $124,516 per year.
