The Heart and Vascular ICU at the Hospital of the University of PA is looking for a Lead Advanced Practice Provider to join the leadership team.
The HVICU is a 32 bed unit caring for patients undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures, including heart transplants, lung transplants, adult
congenital surgery, and complex aortic procedures. Our team consists of intensivists, surgical and anesthesia residents, and APPs.
The Lead Advanced Practitioner will provide daily clinical and operational management for the advanced practitioners (nurse
practitioners and physician assistants) on their service/in their service line in support of institutional and departmental
missions. In this position, the Lead Advanced Practitioner will have the following responsibilities: leadership direction,
development and maintenance of schedules, time and payroll management, orientation of new hires, staffing models, oversight
of local credentialing for direct reports, and compliance with performance appraisal process and annual mandatory education
offerings.
The Lead Advanced Practitioner may have either a direct or dotted line reporting structure through the Department of
Advanced Practice. The individual in this position will work with the Director/Associate Director of Advanced Practice, the APs
on their clinical team, and collaborating / supervising physicians on best practices, the implementation of performance
measures and other operational goals. All program development, support, and maintenance shall be accomplished through a
team approach evidenced by strong communication and collaborations with Department of Advanced Practice.
The Lead Advanced Practitioner, will have clinical responsibility for patient management on a daily basis as well as provide managerial functions.
Job Requirements: Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of PA with Board Certification in area of specialty
OR current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of PA and certification as a Physician Assistant.
Advanced expertise in multi-disciplinary or sub-specialty clinical programs or special audiences preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of personal skill sets
Initiative, judgement, creativity and leadership abilities preferred.
