Applied Research Scientist Responsibilities:
1. Research, design, and develop new optimization algorithms and techniques to improve the efficiency and performance of Meta platforms.
2. Design and implement large-scale distributed software systems to serve large numbers of complex requests simultaneously and without failure.
3. Utilize technical research background, train new ranking models, and run experiments.
4. Create tools for migrating large bodies of user data across systems for new products, scalability efforts, and development of new core infrastructure.
5. Use machine learning, statistics, or other data techniques to build algorithms.
6. Suggest, collect, and synthesize system requirements form stakeholders, and create effective feature roadmaps.
7. Analyze and resolve computer challenges from a system-engineering standpoint.
Minimum Qualifications:

8. Requires a Master's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field and 3 years of work experience in the job offered or in a related occupation
9. Requires 36 months of experience in the following:
10. 1. Building models and developing algorithms for machine learning, statistics, mathematical programming, and simulation
11. 2. Developing and supporting models in production
12. 3. Modeling and analyzing up to petabytes of data using R or Python
13. 4. Initiating and driving applied research projects to completion with minimal guidance
14. 5. Communicating applied research work to technical and non-technical audience
Public Compensation:
$214,532/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits
