Valcor Engineering is one of the largest and most recognized suppliers of fluid control products in the aircraft, aerospace and military fields. We specialize in the design and manufacture of Solenoid Valves and control components for liquids and gases in critical application in the aerospace, nuclear, light industrial and scientific industries.
Job Summary:
The Lab Manager will oversee the multiple lab areas for new product development, qualification testing efforts, and production testing. This includes but is not limited to supervising and training all assigned staff and equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Continually assesses backlog and capacity to align testing schedule with program/project schedules.
+ Oversees daily workflow and technician assignments. Schedules and coordinates all testing in the lab areas (mix of production testing and development projects) and communicates significant delays and risks to senior management.
+ Ensures safe and efficient operation of the different lab spaces.
+ Prepares and distributes technical reports.
+ Collaborates with all business areas to achieve organizational goals.
+ Plans and implements lab area process and equipment changes to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
+ Manage equipment calibration, perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and expedite repairs.
+ Monitors consumables and supplies. Reorders tools and equipment for the lab areas.
+ Supervises test setup construction to ensure safe and accurate test results.
+ Develops and tracks technician training program.
+ Hires and manages technician staff.
+ Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations.
+ Performs other related duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
+ Excellent supervisory and leadership skills required.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Able to describe and discuss complex technical issues with the appropriate level of detail. Able to create work instructions and operating procedures.
+ Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills required. Able to read and interpret drawings and complex procedures, calculate material and equipment ratings and safety factors, and review test results.
+ Knowledge of production principles and processes required. Able to estimate production times and prepare production schedules.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ All candidates must meet the US persons criteria.
Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent work experience
+ 3 years’ engineering or product testing experience required, preferable in a manufacturing environment. Supervisory experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
+ Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
+ Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
