Ford is seeking an experienced, lead level, Senior Android Automotive engineer for the development of In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems for a groundbreaking new line of Electric Vehicles (EVs). This role will involve designing, architecting, and implementing Android Automotive applications to create a seamless, intuitive, and connected user experience for Ford’s next-generation vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and history in Android Automotive application development, team leadership, and a passion for innovative automotive technologies. Responsibilities include providing mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced team members, helping to drive technical strategy, and ensuring the successful integration of Android systems with Ford’s EV ecosystem. This person will also be responsible for helping define project timelines, and collaborating closely with other teams to deliver high-quality IVI solutions. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of automotive technology and enhance the driving experience for a new era of EV owners. This role has the opportunity to grow into an engineering management role.
What you'll do...
+ Lead and manage a high-performing Android engineering team responsible for the development of IVI systems for a transformative new line of Electric Vehicles.
+ Oversee the design, architecture, and implementation of Android Automotive-based solutions to deliver an exceptional user experience.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, UX/UI, and quality assurance, to integrate Android systems with Ford’s EV ecosystem.
+ Define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for IVI system development, ensuring alignment with Ford's long-term goals and vision for electric vehicles.
+ Provide mentorship and career development opportunities to engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
+ Manage project timelines, priorities, and resources to ensure successful, on-time delivery of IVI solutions.
+ Drive continuous improvement in Android development practices, tools, and processes to enhance productivity and software quality.
+ Champion best practices in software development, including code quality, security, and performance optimization.
+ Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in Android development and automotive technology, and apply this knowledge to push the boundaries of innovation.
You'll have…
+ Bachelor’s degree or better in software engineering, computer science or a related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
+ 5+ years of software development experience.
+ 3+ years of Android Automotive application software development experience.
+ Proven experience leading engineering teams, preferably in automotive or consumer electronics.
+ Strong expertise in Android Automotive application development, architecture, and performance optimization.
+ Deep understanding of In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems and automotive technologies.
+ Experience with cross-functional collaboration, including hardware, software, and UX/UI teams.
+ Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
+ Strong problem-solving abilities and a results-driven mindset.
+ Familiar with embedded application development
+ Strong understanding of Objected oriented programming, data structure, Algorithms
+ Strong documentation, writing, and communications skills

+ A Masters degree in software engineering, computer science or a related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience
+ Experience with Android Automotive VHAL development
+ Familiarity with cross-platform frameworks such as React and Flutter
+ Experience with CarPlay, Android Auto
+ Experience in developing video streaming solutions using protocols and encoding standards such as RTP, RTSP, H.264, H.265
+ Experience with camera-related automotive software, including ISPs, regulated rear-view camera displays and perception-based event detection
+ Experience with automotive standards, regulations, and quality assurance processes.
