Posting Description
FINANCIAL ASSISTANT 2, POST AWARD, Biological Engineering, to provide complex and diverse financial assistance on post-award sponsored research activities; perform financial management of fund and research accounts for faculty; monitor account activity and expenditures for compliance with sponsor guidelines and approved budgets; reconcile account statements and salary expense reports in accordance with the financial review and control process; prepare monthly projections; approve requests for payment, travel expense reports, and other accounting forms; review and approve invoices; process requisitions and review purchase order commitments; assist with preparing current and pending support; conduct monthly review of closing report; process account closeouts, including compliance audits; oversee and maintain all financial documentation and electronic files; serve as a resource for lab members regarding MIT-related issues; and perform other duties as directed. This position involves making detailed decisions based on broad general guidelines.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent; a minimum of three years of related financial, accounting, and grants management experience; self-motivation, strong attention to detail, customer service orientation, strong interpersonal skills, ease with telephone and in-person contacts, strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills; proficiency with Excel and Word; discretion with sensitive/confidential information; willingness to assume new responsibilities as needed; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately; proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; and ability to take initiative to implement and/or improve established financial processes in support of the operational area, and handle large volumes of work on a daily basis despite many interruptions. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree; strong accounting skills; and MIT financial systems Kuali COEUS, COGNOS, and SAP. Job #25083-5
