Position DescriptionInstruct students in the specific area of their specialty, helping them learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences and contribute to their development, enabling them to meet high expectations. Communicate with parents, create a classroom environment conducive to learning, and participate in professional development. Windham Public Schools is a welcoming learning environment where all students are prepared for college and career. Essential Functions:
+ Adhere to the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility
+ Ensures the safety of students
+ Implements the Windham Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations, and directives
+ Manage classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a positive learning environment.
+ Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, uses appropriate techniques, and serves the needs of all learners in the classroom
+ Maintains accurate and complete records as required
+ Attends parent/teacher conferences
+ Assess student learning continually and identify areas of intervention if needed.
+ Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Windham Board of Education.
+ Maintains respect for confidential information
+ Keeps parents up-to-date on student progress through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences
+ Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as needed
+ Design clear and specific learning assessments.
+ Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner.
+ Maintain a positive school community image that encourages ethical student behavior
+ Maintain ongoing communication with parents.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other educational materials
+ Establish and maintain professional relationships
+ Participate in professional learning by attending seminars and workshops to improve instructional practices and positively impact student achievement.
Qualifications/Certificates:
+ Bilingual(Spanish/English) preferred.
+ Active subject matter certificate as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education
+ CT Certification (015)
+ Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Windham Board of Education may find appropriate.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
+ Practical, active listening skills
+ Ability to work effectively with others
+ Organizational and problem-solving skills
+ Excellent public relations skills
+ Ability to foster and facilitate learning and classroom management
+ Knowledge of ARC preferred. Must be fluent in reading instructional skills and strategies.
Days: Monday – FridaySalary: By the WFT contract
