    Job Description

    Work Arrangement:

    **Hybrid:** _This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Milford Proving Grounds location three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business._

    The Role:

    We are looking for a talented and motivated candidate to join our team in our journey of defining and executing our Vehicle Electrical Architectures. The Embedded Platform Infrastructure Systems Engineering organization is looking for a System Engineer to support the implementation of in-vehicle network solutions utilized by all GM’s platforms.

     

    The System Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing in-vehicle network solutions, with a focus on AUTOSAR implementation and the use of IBM Rhapsody tool. This role is critical in ensuring the development of efficient and reliable network architectures for automotive systems.

    What You'll Do:

    + Design and Implementation: Design and implement in-vehicle network (serial data) solutions using IBM Rhapsody, ensuring alignment with AUTOSAR standards and seamless integration with existing systems.

    + Artifact Creation: Create system extracts and documentation to support network architecture and design.

    + Compliance with Standards: Ensure compliance with GM’s specifications and best practices throughout the design and implementation process.

    + Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Program Management, and Engineering, to define project objectives and deliverables.

    + Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of serial data solutions to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with project requirements.

    + Planning and Coordination: Plan the delivery of system artifacts in alignment with stakeholder needs, program timelines, and team capacity, ensuring timely and efficient execution of project milestones.

    + Troubleshooting and Support: Identify and resolve serial data-related issues, providing technical support to team members and stakeholders as needed.

    + Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network designs, configurations, and implementation processes for future reference and compliance.

    + Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in network technologies, recommending improvements to enhance system performance and efficiency.

    Additional Job Description

    Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

    + 2+ years of experience working with in-vehicle network design and implementation within the automotive industry.

    + Strong proficiency in using IBM Rhapsody and understanding of network communication protocols.

    + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

    + Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

    + Master of Science in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, or related experience.

    + 5+ years of experience working with in-vehicle network design and implementation within the automotive industry.

    + Engineering and Embedded Software Systems, with a focus on in-vehicle networking.

    + Five or more years of experience working with in-vehicle network design.

    + Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.

    + Design for Six Sigma Black Belt.
