GENERAL SUMMARY
Provide the vision, leadership, and management for the Energy and Professional Services department. Manage the development of professional services, energy programs, and new power facilities. Help set business development goals and develop plans and metrics to drive achievement of those goals. Ensure proper implementation and management of new projects and programs as assigned. Oversee and manage budgets for typical project, program, and business line development ranging from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of millions for larger projects. Oversee and manage the development and implementation of programs and requirements for new generation, services, and energy markets projects. Ensure existing programs are run with a focus on excellence and cost-effectiveness. Supervise staff activities; provide leadership, guidance, work management and administration of the Energy and Professional Services organization.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop new product or service ideas and opportunities to and through the point of implementation.
+ Collaborate with peer managers to understand and take on development and implementation of new opportunities and drive them to completion.
+ Interface with member utilities and other outside entities through established or self-generated opportunities
+ Lead development of cost/benefit and risk evaluations and presentations to appropriate review boards and management, using established procedures, policies, and processes.
Manage and direct development and implementation phases of project/program development for new energy/professional services and generating facilities/programs, including: engaging appropriate EN departments; preparation of project proposals and term sheets; formation and leadership of project teams; hiring of outside technical and environmental consultants; identification and development of project sites; obtainment of management, board and regulatory approvals; management of the procurement of equipment and services; arrangement of project financing; coordination with O&M Services for O&M cost projections and project transition plans and checklists; and arranging for construction management services.
Manages employees using established Energy Northwest policies, procedures, and practices. Communicates a common vision consistent with that of the leadership team. Review and approve (per procedure) the work generated by department personnel. Encourage and provide training and development for staff personnel to assure high performance, opportunity to progress and maintain good morale in the organization. Make recommendations/review promotions, salary changes, transfers and terminations. Resolve personnel issues, allocate work, review and approve procedures, assist and train subordinates as necessary.
Provide public power industry leadership and create Energy Northwest brand recognition, leveraging joint operating agency advantages toward increasing Energy Northwest’s support of public power. Develop and maintain industry liaisons and current expertise for assigned power resource technologies, including attendance and/or participation on industry committees and forums, review of technical journals and periodicals and completion of selected training classes and seminars. Develop and/or enhance project management standards, processes or procedures used in generation project development.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or a related field from an accredited college or university and 12 years of relevant progressive experience. Two years of experience in a formal leadership role is required.
OR
In lieu of degree, requires a high school diploma/GED and 20 years of progressive experience in areas listed above.
Advanced degree may be considered in lieu of two years of required experience.
Pay Range
$162,274.00 - $243,412.00 Annual
Midpoint:
$202,843.00
Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.
Incentive Compensation
This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
