+ Day Shift: 0500-1330, 0600-1430, 0700-1530
+ Call - Limited on Saturday only
+ NO WEEKENDS or HOLIDAYS
+ Associates as a Histotechnician PREFERRED
+ ASCP certified. At least one year of histology experience. PREFERRED
+ Duties - Cutting and embedding tissue, IHC and Special Stains, Instrument maintenance, assist on Bone Marrows, FNA and surgical procedures for Telepathology.

Overview
**Memorial Hospital Belleville** is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including Children’s at Memorial for pediatric emergency care. It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. In addition, Memorial Belleville recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Since 2008, it has been designated as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
**Memorial Hospital Shiloh** , a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.
The Laboratory Department provides a wide variety of assays and procedures to obtain data used in the diagnosis and treatment of most disease states to our inpatient and out patients. Services include phlebotomy, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, point-of-care and pathology.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Responsible for providing a variety of routine and/or complex tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination.
Responsibilities
+ Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas.
+ Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation. Performs and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Performs special stains and immunohisotchemistry, (manual or automated), after reagent preparation.
+ Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks and responsibilities.
+ Trained to complete tissue gross examination as needed.
+ Must meet the High Complexity qualifications as written in CLIA 42CFR493.
