We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in stroke services, neuroscience, and/or emergency department care to join our team as a Stroke Coordinator – Quality & Education Specialist. This role supports our Comprehensive Stroke Center by leading staff education, performing data reviews and audits and providing feedback to team members to promote evidence-based practices, and ensure alignment with current guidelines and best practices. This role will also participate in outreach activities with our hospital partners, EMS agencies and local community to improve awareness and access to stroke education throughout the region.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and teaching skills, and experience working with stroke program standards and performance measures. Orientation is expected to last 8–12 weeks depending on experience and background.

Neuroscience nursing at Barnes-Jewish Hospital offers rewarding and challenging opportunities on two neuro medicine floors, a neurosurgical step-down unit as well as a 20-bed neuro intensive care unit. Our Neuro ICU is one of the nation's largest and most sophisticated neurological neurosurgical intensive care unit, treating and researching conditions that include strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages, subdural and epidural hematomas, intraparenchymal hemorrhages, traumatic brain injuries, brain tumors, neuro-muscular diseases and spinal injuries. ; As a major teaching hospital, Barnes-Jewish is continually advancing the neurosciences. In these areas, nurses experience something new every day.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Coordinates the health care of select patient populations/designated service across the continuum of care. Responsible for coordination of patient contact, patient education, prepares patient/family for procedure/test in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
+ Facilitates patient care by assessing and evaluating patient's physical, psychosocial and emotional needs.
+ Coordinates the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care governed by evidence-based clinical practice.
+ Monitors care and data to optimize patient outcomes.
+ Facilitate the education of patients and families. Acts as a resource to the health care team.
+ Ensures actions meet and support the overall goals of the business.
