    Job Description

    The position is a resource to both students and faculty in the areas of recruitment and retention; general advising; student complaints; student conduct; academic petitions; and internship/experiential learning administration. The position is designed to provide recommendations and innovative solutions to solve complex student issues.

     

    + Coordinate general academic advising activities to foster student success, including facilitation and consultation with faculty and other university units with student responsibilities

    + Coordinate community engagement and alumni relations for the School

    + Manage student conduct, student complaints, student petitions, and student appeals to advance the student experience

    + Develop, support, and assess initiatives designed to increase recruitment and retention for the School and its programs to support program and School growth/sustainability

    + Manage student internship/experiential learning opportunities to enrich the student experience

    + Serve as a liaison/resource to the School and the University to ensure consistent and appropriate implementation of relevant policies, procedures, and practices

    + Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Master’s degree in a related field plus a minimum of one year professional experience in advising, student affairs, and/or recruitment and retention

    + Demonstrated ability to engage in the best practices and procedures of student advising/counseling and higher education administration

    + Demonstrated skills in collaborating with multiple functional areas to advance student success

    + Demonstrated excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills

    + Demonstrated skill in writing concise, accurate, and professional reports

    + Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including data interpretation

    + Demonstrated skills in working with diverse student and employee populations

    + Valid U.S. Driver’s License

    Preferred Qualification

    + Knowledge of the theoretical principles of advising/counseling and higher education

    + Three or more years of professional work experience at a state college or university in student counseling and/or higher education administration

    + Demonstrated ability to effectively create and deliver professional presentations for large and diverse groups

    + Demonstrated ability to work professionally with varied external organizations/entities
