Responsibilities
Supervise assigned staff in performing activities or tasks in phlebotomy services.
+ Participate in multidisciplinary meetings or committees addressing issues and implementation of new services.
+ Ensure staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols.
+ Perform functions for the phlebotomy department: to include but not be limited to; hiring, evaluations and first level disciplinary actions.
+ Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
One or more of the following preferred:
+ Approved Local Exception.
+ BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
+ Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for ClinicalPathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
+ Laboratory Tech credentialed from the American Board of Bioanalysis (AAB).
+ Laboratory Tech credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification(ASCP-BOC).
+ Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board ofCertification (ASCP-BOC).
+ Medical Tech credentialed from the American Board of Bioanalysis (AAB).
+ Medical Tech credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
+ Phlebotomy Tech.
+ Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
Education:
+ Associate’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory scientist, human sciences; or completed a military 50-60 week technician program and meets the minimum CLIA requirements; or education qualifications as stated per CLIA requirements.
Work Experience:
+ 2 years of experience required.
