Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator, Aquatic Research Services - Jupiter, FL.
Responsible for independent management of aquatic research facilities, reporting to the Director of the Jupiter Life Science Initiative. Daily activities are directed by faculty conducting fish research.
Summary of Responsibilities:
+ Fish Care and Facility Oversight: Perform daily care, husbandry, and maintaining optimal environmental conditions – as specified by representative research faculty. Ensure compliance with high standards of animal welfare. Train laboratory users on animal protocols, proper techniques and facility protocols, and monitor adherence to approved practices. Assign and coordinate responsibilities for facility staff and users. Respond promptly to health issues or emergencies, coordinating with veterinarians, technical staff, or campus facilities manager as needed.
+ Facility Maintenance and Water Quality Management: Conduct weekly and monthly water quality assessments, cleaning, and parts replacement. Prepare and review monthly reports for submission to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S). Liaise with IACUC/ EH&S members during semi- annual facility inspections. Calibrate probes monthly and replace mechanical filters as needed to ensure system accuracy.
+ Documentation and Compliance: Regularly update facility paperwork to include all approved protocols and amendments. Maintain thorough records of maintenance tasks, fish care activities, and regulatory compliance. Coordinate with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and IACUC to schedule and prepare for inspections, ensuring that all facility operations meet institutional and regulatory requirements. Implement necessary corrective actions to address any issues identified during inspections. Responsible for ordering supplies, replacement parts, and equipment.
+ Research Infrastructure: A ct as the primary contact for shared research equipment needs; co ordinate equipment repairs with 3rd party vendors and requesting quotes as needed. Serve as liaison to Jupiter campus facilities management team, EH&S, and the Division of Research. C ollaborate with Jupiter Campus Administration on revising and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for research-related activities.
+ Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

$50,000 per year.
