Merch On Demand is a rapidly expanding Amazon business that provides a make-on-demand service for creating, publishing, promoting, and selling graphic merchandise such as t-shirts, hoodies, PopSockets, phone cases, Tumbler, and more. Content creators upload designs and we list, sell, print, and ship these items to Amazon customers. Our customers get great graphic products and content creators get a generous royalty.
Since launching in 2015, we have scaled our business to the US, EU-5, and JP across several types of apparel and retail products — and we’re just getting started. We empower content creators of all sizes, from amateur designers to large brands, to scale their merchandise sales globally without the constraints of managing inventory or a supply chain.
We are looking for a dynamic Software Development Manager who is passionate about innovating on behalf of customers and demonstrates a high degree of ownership, technical and business acumen.
As a Software Development Manager, you will own the tech stack that supports Merch Make-on-Demand Warehouse Management System (WMS), which handles all aspects of inventory management, order/shipment orchestration, and production management within each Production Centers across North America, Europe and Japan.
Key job responsibilities
- Build a high performance team while maintaining a high bar for quality.
- Hire, coach, and mentor colleagues; build a strong cross-functional organization and care about developing people.
- Create and execute roadmaps and project plan
- Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to senior leadership.
- Work closely with senior engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
- Foster culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
- Own all operational metrics and support
- Have the obsession to drive a better customer experience through everything that we do here at Amazon
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
