JOB SUMMARY

The Security Sergeant (Lead Officer) at St. Mary's Health System will be responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for employees, patients and visitors, as well as perform shift supervisory duties in the absence of the Manager and/or Lieutenant. The Sergeant will be expected to perform all Security Officer duties, such as escort duties, provide valet parking services, assist lost or confused patients, visitors or residents. They will provide special services to staff, vendors, and visitors, such as jump starts, lock-outs, and escorts. They will be responsible for performing effective parking enforcement with an appropriate degree of discretion, entering information in the Motor Vehicle database, conduct effective inside and outside patrols and report safety, risk, or maintenance issues and identify and appropriately follow up on breaches of security. The Sergeant is expected to effectively and efficiently delegate/assign shift duties, monitor shift activities, and assist with the training and coaching of new Officers. They will also be responsible for offering input for Officer performance reviews and assist with the arrangement of shift coverage for last-minute schedule changes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

+ High School diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

+ 1-year experience in a security role or in a supervisory role preferred

Other Skills Required:

+ Excellent analytical skills

+ Excellent customer relations skills required

+ Ability to read/comprehend written instructions

+ Ability to handle multiple priorities at once

+ Ability to make decisions under pressure and manage anger/fear/hostility/violence
